Our story. Oslo Sauna Association was formed in 2016 by anarchists and diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ ice bathing club. It all started with the sauna raft Måken, which was built on the work of driftwood found in Bjørvika. Since then, the popularity of saunas and ice baths has increased considerably.
Our vision. Our vision is a sauna to the people, and we want the whole of Oslo to have access to sauna.
Operating model. The association is run non-profit, and any profits go back to developing the offer further. Everyone can become a member of the association; it costs NOK 200 a year. As a member, you have the right to vote at the general meeting and get to use the association’s facilities at a membership price.
The association currently has 30 employees. The administration consists of 5 people, the rest are sauna masters. These are the sauna masters you meet at the sauna. All our sauna masters have lifesaving courses. Oslo Sauna Association should be a good place to visit and work. Our sauna masters are represented at the board by 2 persons.
Oslo Sauna Association is a member of “Frivillighet Norge” and “Bad, Park og Idrett”. We are registered in the Volunteer Register and on the Grassroots share of Norsk Tipping.
