Sagene Folkebad

Welcome to the most beautiful bathhouse in Oslo!

The old, beautiful Sagene Folkebad, from the year 1899, has been meticulously renovated in close consultation with the city’s antiquarian authorities.

Now Oslo Badstuforening is opening this wonderful bathhouse for everyone!

Sagene Folkebad has two saunas with room for a total of 42 people, a fantastic shower facility, cold plunge and curtained changing rooms with small lockers for valuables (bring a padlock or buy one at the bathhouse). Best of all, you have access to a classic swimming pool (12.5 x 6 m) during many of the sauna sessions.

Initially, we will keep the bathhouse open every day for a trial period this spring. After that, the goal is to operate the bathhouse on a permanent basis from September and onwards.

Swimwear/Nudity

Thursday is a nude day, and swimwear may not be worn. On all other days, swimwear is required, and nudity is not permitted.

Women/Men/They

The vast majority of sessions at Sagene are open to everyone, regardless of gender. However, the first session on Sundays is for women/they only.

Private sauna (90 minutes): Private sauna bookings must be made by email to post@oslobadstuforening.no. Please send your booking request at least 3 weeks in advance, stating your preferred date and time. You can book the saunas with or without pool access, depending on the time slot you choose. When booking the sauna only option, access to the cold plunge pool is included.

• Two saunas with pool access (up to 45 people): NOK 7,600 / 8,000 (member / non-member)
• Two saunas, sauna only (up to 45 people): NOK 6,600 / 7,000 (member / non-member)
• Large sauna with pool access (up to 25 people): NOK 4,900 / 5,300 (member / non-member)
• Large sauna, sauna only (up to 25 people): NOK 3,900 / 4,300 (member / non-member)
• Small sauna, sauna only (up to 17 people): NOK 2,700 / 3,100 (member / non-member)

Hygiene:

• Always shower naked before going into the pool/sauna/cold pool. Rinse and wring out swimwear used in the saunas. Changing booths and showers have curtains for privacy.
• Always sit on a towel in the sauna and library.
• Wear a swimming cap or tie up long hair when using the pool.

Morning coffee/tea on weekdays:

• We organic coffee and tea (NOK 33) on weekdays from 6:30 to 10. Welcome to a delicious start to the day!

Family swimming on Saturdays:

• Families are especially welcome on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Each adult can bring one child for free and purchase additional child tickets for NOK 95.
• You are responsible for the safety of your children, as there are no lifeguards on duty.
• All swimming take place in the main pool. We have no separate children’s pool.
• For hygienic reasons, children who need a diaper (diaper swim pants) are not allowed to use the pool.
• Each family session is 2 hours + 20 minutes change time.

Ritual Tuesdays:

• A volunteer team – consisting of both apprentices and fully trained aufguss masters – holds sauna rituals every Tuesday afternoon and evening at Sagene.
• These rituals are included in the regular drop-in hours (no extra payment).

Safety and rules:

• All swimming and sauna use is at your own risk.
• Mobile-free zone. Phones/cameras must be left in the locker room (bring your own padlock or buy one from us).
• Use a quiet voice, including in the pool
• Alcohol is not allowed. Visibly intoxicated people will be denied entry.
• If something or someone makes you uncomfortable, or if you have any concerns, please inform the staff.
