The Saunas with the best accessibility

Oslo Badstuforening has 30 saunas. Trosten, Skarven and Albatrossen offer the best accessibility for people with disabilities.
Please note: Wheelchair spaces inside the sauna must be booked in advance. You can book them in the same place as a shared sauna session. Admission is free for companions with a valid companion certificate, but the companion’s place must still be booked.
Trosten at Sukkerbiten: Oslo Badstuforening opened Norway’s first universally designed floating sauna in spring 2024. Trosten accommodates 24 people and two wheelchairs.

Interior: Inside Trosten, the lower benches can be moved to make space for two wheelchairs. Electric fans help circulate the heat, ensuring a comfortable temperature even at the lower level. Heated outdoor surfaces, handrails and an automatic door opener make the sauna particularly accessible.
Trosten’s outdoor area has a terrace with a height-adjustable freshwater shower, drinking water and a bathing ladder.
Please note: There is no pool lift or ramp into the water. A toilet is available on land, but it is not currently universally designed.
Book Trosten here.
Skarven and Albatrossen at Sukkerbiten: Among the association’s other saunas, Skarven (12 people) and Albatrossen (25 people) are also spacious and easy to access, although they do not meet all the requirements for universal design.

There is space to leave a wheelchair outdoors on the pier, just a couple of metres from the entrances to Skarven and Albatrossen.

Both Skarven and Albatrossen have their own changing rooms and bathing platform/terrace. They share showers with the other saunas on the pier.
Please note: There is no pool lift or ramp into the water. A toilet is available on land, but it is not currently universally designed.
Getting here
Of all our locations, Sukkerbiten is the easiest to access for people with disabilities. There is no parking directly on site, but private cars can drive all the way to the gangway by the pier to drop off passengers. You can find the nearest car park here.

The nearest public transport stops are Jernbanetorget (bus, tram, metro and train) and Bjørvika (bus and tram).
