Sukkerbiten is Norway’s — and perhaps the world’s — largest floating sauna village. Each sauna has its own architectural style, creating a colorful oasis in the city. The village is centrally located, just outside the Opera House and the Munch Museum, and is a 7–8 minute walk from Oslo Central Station.
The Sukkerbiten sauna village includes the following saunas:
The sauna village is L-shaped, with a long pier extending south from land and a shorter pier at the end extending west.
Sukkerbiten features a wide gangway, providing easy access for wheelchair users. The main pier is also wide and spacious. The sauna Trosten is universally accessible.
To the left of the reception, there is a separate changing building with two larger unisex changing rooms. Most saunas also have smaller changing rooms attached.
The village includes a large outdoor relaxation area with benches.
Albatrossen features a climbing wall — you can safely drop directly into the fjord!
All saunas have ladders into the fjord. Extra-wide, comfortable stairs are available on the main pier to the south and on the Trosten terrace. You can jump or dive from some of the sauna roofs.
Water quality is generally good most days of the year, according to municipal measurements. After prolonged heavy rainfall, it is recommended to wait 24 hours before swimming. Please note that no refunds are given on days when fjord swimming is not recommended.
Several freshwater cooling options are available: four showers with hot and cold water, one ice-cold bucket shower, and two cold plunge pools. Showering is required before using the plunge pools.
Drinking water is available by the showers, here you can fill personal bottles. The toilet is located on land, approximately 60 meters from the sauna village entrance. Keys can be borrowed from the sauna master.

Our rituals add an extra dimension to your sauna experience. Rituals are offered at Sukkerbiten, Langkaia, and Kroloftet. See an overview here. Prices start at NOK 320/400 (member/non-member).
Naked sauna sessions are available in the sauna Anda at Sukkerbiten on Wednesdays, and at Sagene Folkebad (our bathhouse at Grünerløkka/Sagene) on Tuesdays and Fridays.
We also host social events, volunteer days, and parties. To see what’s happening, click here.
We warmly welcome you to Sukkerbiten!
